Finding Peace in the Storm
I want to begin with saying that Jesus Christ loves you. Now that you know this, examine yourself. Do you really love Him? Two paths appear.
If you don't, get that right. Obey His commandments. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." John 14:15.
You might say "but, I do!" In that case, do not worry! It is a sin to worry. I've suffered many times for Christ throughout my life, and it wasn't until recently that I realized that I was sinning against my Lord by worrying perpetually. About everything: money, bills, missing out (in my case, relationships, investing, and whatnot). Many of these are common to man.
We can rest assured in Christ Jesus knowing that He also was subjected to the same temptations. And, that we will not be tempted greater than what we are able to bear. And, that the Father will always provide a way of escape so we're able to bear it. All of these apply to worrying. If anyone had a reason to worry, it'd be Jesus Christ! Homeless, beaten down, refused by His own people. Abandoned to die unjustly on a cross by his closest friends.
However, He did not worry, and He rose again in victory over it all! Yes, He was perfect. But He was setting the standard we all need to obey! Be thee perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. This is a tall order without the Holy Spirit, but this has been given to us richly! And, if we lack, we can ASK! ASK THE FATHER TODAY IN JESUS'S NAME! And if you don't know Him, REPENT! THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND!
You may be saying, "well, that's all good, but Jesus can't <insert whatever you're struggling through here>." Well, YES HE CAN. And He does! He may be prompting you to ASK HIM! This does not mean He'll work your job for you. This does not mean He'll go and cook dinner for you. This doesn't mean He'll immediately take away all of your pain. But do know that He has finished it all. He submitted to the Father in every way, and we are called to take up our crosses after Him.
I have seen Him turn impossible situations in my life into blessings again and again. This is not prosperity preaching. He wants to give us what we need! Sometimes that's as simple as $8.00 worth of Waffle House breakfast sandwiches, and sometimes that's a multi-million dollar company.
There's quite a range there, but the Lord knows exactly what He made you to do. Some are called to ministry, while others are simply called to put bread on the table for their family. Not everyone is called to be the Apostle Paul. Do whatever you can with gladness as unto the LORD, even if it does not seem to be significant to His Kingdom.
Now, all of this MUST BE IN ACCORDANCE with HIS WORD. Do not fight the LORD God. He will always win, and when He allows you to win (ala Jacob) it was His intent all along. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. You will receive, you will find, the door will be opened unto you.
In Jesus's mighty name, Solomon's Apes out.
